Performers visited patients at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to stage a special dance performance organised by DaDaFest.
Two dancers, Nadenh Poan and Christian Brinklow, from the cast of Stopgap’s The Enormous Room took time out of their national theatre tour to visit Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
After a short performance in the hospital’s striking Atrium, patients and their families were invited to participate in a workshop to promote movement and dance. The dancers then moved upstairs to the neurology ward for a further performance and spent time dancing with patients.
DaDaFest recently attracted funding from charity Children in Need, specifically to work with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to develop and grow its programme of artistic development work with young disabled and D/deaf people.
DaDaFest Executive Director Richard Nutter commented: “We were delighted to introduce the work of DaDaFest and Stopgap to the patients and families of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. We are committed to developing our work with young people to ensure that the arts are accessible to everyone.”
Vicky Charnock, Arts Coordinator at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, added: “We’d like to thank DaDaFest for choosing Alder Hey to showcase their work with young people and the arts. Our patients, their families and staff have thoroughly enjoying see the positive impact dance can have on people and we hope to strengthen our relationship further going forward.”
