This National Inclusion Week we reached out to DaDa artists to find out their thoughts on inclusion within the arts sector. The theme this year is #TakeActionMakeImpact, so we wanted to understand our artists take on inclusion and what action they things those working within the arts could take in order to make an imapct. Hear are the responses we received:
- What does inclusion mean to you?
Inclusion means showing that the arts are for everyone rather than simply saying it.
- What can arts organisations, producers, funders do to ensure they are creating inclusive opportunities for artists?
Work with charities/councils to identify people who use their services who may be artists and are interested in trying to create art.
- What does inclusion mean to you?
Inclusion to me is when you are not singled out and feel part of project or a team
- What can arts organisations, producers, funders do to ensure they are creating inclusive opportunities for artists?
To make art inclusive, organisations, funders and producers need to stop doing lip service and really put money behind inclusion to support artists. Funders need to support organisations, and producers need to have support from all three, because when they all work together that’s when the magic happens.
- What does inclusion mean to you?
Inclusion means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, has equal access to opportunities and resources.
· What can arts organisations, producers, funders do to ensure they are creating inclusive opportunities for artists?
Arts organisations, producers, and funders can ensure they are creating inclusive opportunities for artists by actively seeking out diverse talent, providing equitable funding and support, and promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for all artists to thrive.
