Cured is a new play by writer/comedian Laurence Clark, currently being developed by Liverpool's Royal Court. We're pleased to share that it's also being supported by DaDaFest, and that applications are currently open to join the cast!
Here are the details from Liverpool's Royal Court - check it out and make sure to apply by Monday 28 September:
We are looking to cast the role of Callum.
Callum is around 18, has cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair and an electronic communication aid.
Callum likes to get attention in his own way by causing as much mischief as possible as this is his way of rebelling. He has a dark sense of humour. He always seems to have a witty putdown at his fingertips – literally at the touch of a button. At the start he is quite happy to let non-disabled people pat him on the head, tell him he’s cute and generally patronise him, but over the course of the story he learns to recognise such behaviour for what it is.
Please note that although the role is currently written as male, we are happy to consider applicants of any gender as the part can be amended if necessary. We are however looking for electronic communication aid users in the first instance.
Anyone interested should send their CV or a brief summary of any experience to jess@royalcourtliverpool.com by Monday 28th September.
