Multi-talented Helen is on the DaDafest Artist Development programme. She is also currently on a placement with Genie in the Gutter to gain experience in coaching and mentoring and to enhance her skills in motivation and communication.
On International Dance day, we hit the streets to celebrate guerrilla style, and afterwards, we sat down for a chat to find out what it is that Helen loves about dance so much!
What do you enjoy about dance?
It’s about how to express yourself and staying in character because you’re dancing and that’s what I love doing.
I love dancing because that’s my passion. I love dancing in dance productions. I love being part of that community. It’s boss having fun as well. Anybody loves dancing.
One thing about dancing is that you never give up; we give it a try. We’ll give it beans, as well.
I’ve been a dancer since I was 14 years old. I’ve been a dancer, I’ve been a choreographer. I’ve been a dance teacher. And I love dancing all the time. Yey!
What do you enjoy about DaDaFest?
At DaDaFest, I came in, in 2017. It's just amazing. It’s about telling people about how to get out in a community, finding people jobs that they love doing as well, which is fantastic organisation.
It’s about holding your own events and that’s what I love doing because I’m into event management. I love holding events with DaDaFest. It gave me a good experience.
