Studio residency runs from 17 Nov – 10 Mar 2019. Open daily 11am-6pm.
Joshua Henderson and Veronica Watson have developed their art practice through non-traditional routes. As members of Blue Room, Bluecoat’s inclusive arts programme, both have worked extensively on a range of co-creation projects with local children and international artists, including Sonia Boyce, Anne Harild and Laurence Payot.
In Studio Me the focus shifts to their individual practices, as they embark on their first studio residency, sharing the early outcomes of this new phase in their artistic journeys. Henderson’s architecture-inspired drawings have evolved through a newly developed etching practice, using Bluecoat’s print studio. Building upon years of experience in drawing and painting, Watson’s portraiture practice has developed through observing the faces of the people who populate Bluecoat, including staff, volunteers and artists.
The exhibition introduces audiences to both their work and the artists themselves, through drop-in activities and invitations to collaborate on art works - details on our website and social media.
