Richard Jones

What do you do with DaDa?

Richard Jones, a new Trustee for DaDa, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the organization. Deaf and a user of British Sign Language, Richard has a rich background in advocacy and leadership. He is currently a Trustee for Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People and serves as the Centre Manager of Warrington and District Society for Deaf People since May 2024. His previous roles include being a Trustee for Disability Sports Wales and Cardiff Citizens Advice Bureau, and he has a history with DaDa as a part-time project coordinator from 2009 to 2010.

Tell us about your background?

Richard’s career began as a trainee draughtsman before transitioning to advocacy roles. After being made redundant, he moved to Plymouth to work as a machine operator. His journey in the deaf community started when he joined the British Deaf Association as a Community Advocacy Officer, where he established deaf forums across Wales. He rose to become the Deputy Managing Director before moving on to roles such as Project Officer for Deaf Access Cymru and Executive Director for Manchester Deaf Centre. He also lectured in Deaf Studies at Llandrillo College and worked as a Mental Health Specialist Support Worker for Signhealth. Additionally, Richard is a qualified Ministry of Enterprise Coach, further showcasing his commitment to empowering others through Result CIC.

What do you do in your spare time?

Richard enjoys playing golf and watching sports, particularly Swansea City and Wales football, as well as Wales rugby. He also likes to play computer games, balancing his professional commitments with personal interests. Richard’s extensive experience and passion for the deaf community make him a valuable asset to DaDa.
